Leather Craftsmanship for Luxury Interior Design

When the San Vicente Club opened its new oceanfront location in Santa Monica in November 2024, interior designer Lisa Koch set out to create an atmosphere that felt like a private sanctuary on the Italian Riviera. The top floor and rooftop needed to feel warm, tactile, and richly detailed—an escape above the coastline.

That's where our leather studio came in.

Lisa wanted every single brass door handle throughout the space wrapped in leather. It's the kind of detail most people won't consciously notice, but they'll absolutely feel — a small moment of luxury each time someone enters a room. She invited us to take on this portion of the project, and it was exactly the kind of craft-driven challenge we love.

To get the material just right, we tested colors, textures, and finishes until we landed on a warm medium-brown full-grain leather. Its character and weight were perfect for the club's atmosphere. Paired with the brass hardware, the leather brought a soft, inviting richness; the hand-stitched white thread added a sharp, refined contrast.

Every handle was wrapped and hand-stitched by us, one by one, ensuring a seamless, tailored fit. This level of craftsmanship takes time, but it's what elevates a space from beautifully designed to thoughtfully lived-in.

The San Vicente Club is a private members' destination celebrated for its relaxed coastal luxury and design-forward ambiance. Best known for its flagship property, San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood, the club has become synonymous with intimate dining rooms, lush courtyards, refined bars, and a warm sense of privacy. Over the years, it has earned a reputation as a discreet haven for Hollywood elites and other high-profile clientele, drawing figures from both the entertainment and technology worlds.

Its new oceanfront location in Santa Monica extends that legacy, introducing sunlit interiors, tactile materials, and handcrafted details inspired by the Italian Riviera. Blending California ease with elevated design, the club offers a serene retreat where members can unwind, reconnect, and feel at home.

Another standout element was the main coffee table at the entry of the room. Lisa envisioned it fully wrapped in white leather — a bold, clean focal point that would set the tone for the entire space. We sourced the ideal leather for durability and feel, then wrapped the tabletop with the same attention to detail. The finished piece became an instant centerpiece: soft, sculptural, and quietly luxurious.
