What makes a cycling trip fun and memorable depends a lot on how well the bicycle and the gear perform during the trip. A well-designed bike with proper fit, comfort, durability and ample touring-specific features can make the entire experience much more enjoyable on the road. As Los Angeles' only touring bicycles and gear specialty shop, we're proud to offer many great bike options to accommodate all touring interests out there. We often customize them so each bike fits its owner's riding style, visual taste, and individuality. Here are some of the popular touring bikes.
As a highly versatile touring bike, the Bridge Club hits the sweet spot that separates on- and off-road excursions. The simplistic design makes it fully adept to handle a full rack and pannier setup, frame bags, or any combination of the two. It doesn't feel sluggish on paved shortcuts, but can also hold its own on dirt detours. If you're feeling a little zesty on your next road tour, you won't be ill-prepared for reroutes through the woods. The Bridge Club is designed to handle it all.
We stock one of the most highly praised touring bikes available - the Surly Long Haul Trucker. Its steel frame tubing, relaxed geometry, long wheelbase, wide range gearing along with abundance of eyelets meet all the criteria of a great touring bike. What makes the Surly Long Haul Truck truly unique and legendary is in the details - extra spare spokes mounted on the chainstay and low bottom bracket position for stability are two examples that only a true touring aficionado can appreciate. We stock the Surly LHT in almost all sizes. More about Surly Long Haul Trucker.
When you're carrying a full load on your Surly LHT and are headed for a mountainous terrain, you want the additional braking power on tap when you need it. The Surly Disc Trucker offers you just that. It's a Long Haul Trucker with 51mm IS caliper mounts instead of rim brake mounts with a newly designed fork. And no detail was too small when designing the Disc Trucker. The caliper mount is placed between chain and seatstays to give you plenty of clearance for various rack and fender options. The components were chosen for their reliability as well. Available in frames and complete bikes.
The Pack Rat is designed around porteur-style racks and front-loading optimization, with a front cargo-specific design to eliminate steering issues. The fork features internal routing for generator hubs and rear frame dropouts to accommodate multiple drivetrain configurations. It's an ideal choice for loaded commutes and bike trips with a lighter load, but also rides great when unloaded.
Marrakesh is Salsa's heavy-duty world-touring bike. Available in drop bar and flat bar setup, each version has its own geometry to provide the best comfort and performance. The all-new Cobra Kai CroMoly frame features lower bottom bracket and longer wheelbase for added stability. The frame also includes three water bottle mounts, and the fork features Three-Pack mounts for Anything Cages or additional water bottles. Moreover, Marrakesh comes standard with the Alternator 135 Low Deck Rack so you have one less item to worry about for your next big adventure.

For those who seek out off-road adventures and want to explore roads that are less traveled, Surly, Salsa, Rocky Mountain and Jones offer some great bikes for just that.
We really love the Ogre. So much so that Ogre's color Rover Brown was named after our shop dog Rover. Ogre is Troll's big wheeled brother sister. Troll and Ogre offer the same ability to accommodate a wide array of drivetrains, brakes, and cargo-hauling accessories. The main difference is that Ogre runs on 29" wheels, the Troll on 26".
Based on the tried-and-true geometry of Surly's venerable Karate Monkey, Ogre is designed to be a platform for exploration, commuting, trailer-pulling, on-road and off-road touring, and just riding along.
The Surly Ogre comes standard with the Jones loop handlebar which provides a wide range of hand positions for maximum comfort and ergonomic. We highly recommend it on all adventure bikes.
Surly has admitted that ECR is "something of a lovechild borne of our Krampus, Ogre and Long Haul Trucker." Whatever the ménage à trois was going on in Surly's basement, the ECR is one kick-ass lovechild. It can run racks, fenders and disc simultaneously. It's compatible with singlespeed, derailleur, and Rohloff hub. It's got lots of braze-ons to mount water bottle cages and racks so you can bring lots of gear with you on the trip.
Classified as 29+ camp bike, Surly ECR is a 29er on steroids with more width, more height, more traction and more float than the regular 29ers. Needless to say the ECR can tackle any terrain and any trail condition with ease. Now go out there with your ECR and don't let others judge you. It's time for you to judge others.
If off-road touring is on your agenda, Salsa Fargo is the bike for you. It rides on a mountain bike frame fitted with a drop handlebar similar to that found on a road bike. It's then paired with a set of rollover-anything 27.5+, 29" or 29+ wheels and tires and you end up with a beast of a bike that can go any distance, off road.
Salsa Fargo has stirred up quite a buzz since its introduction a few years ago. It is a very capable bike that rides and handles extremely well in the dirt. It is also the bike of choice for endurance races such as the Tour Divide. Please visit us for availability.
The Tour Divide is an ultra-endurance bikepacking race that starts in Banff, Canada, through the passes and deep valleys of the Continental Divide, and finishes in Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Salsa has a long history with the race and now has a bicycle designed with it in mind — The Cutthroat.
The Salsa Cutthroat has a full carbon frame and fork for speed and Salsa's proprietary Class 5™ Vibration Reduction System for comfort. Like the Fargo, Cutthroat comes with the Woodchipper dropbar and is one serious machine for going fast while looks good doing it.
Though the Troll's geometry is that of a 26"-wheeled mountain bike, it's unlike most mountain bikes you'll find anywhere you go. The frame has ample clearance for 28/38/50t mountain-triple chainrings and room for 26 x 2.7" tires. The gusseted front triangle, with its sloping toptube, provides generous standover clearance even when running high-volume rubber.
Use the Troll as a mountain bike, cruiser, commuter or touring rig. Make it your go-to utility tractor. Try out different tires and handlebars. Add some racks, build it with gears, or strip it down to a singlespeed drivetrain. Take it camping, ride it to the grocery store or session on your favorite single-track. Build it up, ride it for a while, then reinvent it.
Jeff Jones has a passion for high-performance non-suspended bicycles. His bike is both efficient and comfortable and the handling is immediate and assured.
Jones bike has a slacker seat-tube and a shorter top-tube than 'normal' bikes... the head angle and rake with this wheel size (more rake, slacker head-tube-angle and bigger wheel) determines the trail which helps determine the handling. Slacker angles keep the rider's weight off the hands and makes the front end easy to lift; the center of gravity is moved back and down for more control, with less shock to the upper body, more traction under braking, and a bike that is much harder to endo. This bike feels quick but also has a laid back feel.
