P1080196IMG_2814Topanga Creek Outpost,  Golden Saddle Cyclery and Salsa Cycles Demo Campout.   We had an amazing time.  Both shops and Salsa Cycles took over Bandido Group Camp in the Angeles forest above Chilao for a day of total fun.  We showed up Friday and went on a super fun night ride.   After the night ride we relaxed by the campfire and had fun.    Food, friends and fun.    We camped out woke up to a great day, had oatmeal, breakfast burritos and just about every kind of coffee made.   After our terrific breakfast we tested the amazing 2016 Salsa Cycles and had a great morning riding the trails of Chilao.

Pretty much the perfect demo day.     New friends, great times and all around terrificness.

Mount Pinos for the Presides Meteor Shower on Tuesday night

We took off Tuesday after the outpost closed for Mount Pinos.   We wanted to see the Perseids Meteor Shower without urban light pollution.  We parked at the top lot and hiked for a couple hours to the very top and then down again. When we found a field that was far enough away rom everything, we set up camp.  Jay (younger than Chris with better eyesight) saw about 50 meteors during the evening. Chris saw a few.    (He also fell asleep staring up at the stars, which is really fantastic, so he was very happy).    A terrific UnPredict Your Wednesday.

All-City Cycles Topanga Rasta Cross!

The Rasta Cross has been a work in progress for a couple of years. I had some custom paint laid down on this All-City Nature Boy Zona and waited to slowly find the best build for this bike. I like to use American made products so going with Paul Brakes (neo retro front, touring rear), a Thomson seatpost and stem, and Chris King bearings made sense. Bruce Gordon’s Rock N’ Road tires barely squeezed into the frame and fork. A skinwall/tan color scheme was used on the TRP brake hoods, tires, and Brooks C15 cambium saddle. Brad and Justin from Road Runner Bags hooked me up with the African rasta tribal print tool roll under the seat. Gold accents shine through on this beauty. Fun rides on the dirt and up and down the coast await. As the man himself sang “One love, one heart. Let’s get together and feel all right.” Thanks for reading.
