After the shop closed on Tuesday, we headed to the Amtrack station with our bikes and train tickets in Chatsworth for a trip up to Santa Barbara. After arriving around 10 PM, we rode down for an hour and made it to Carpenteria and camped. After meeting up the Nick for coffee, we headed back to Topanga. Terrific weather and light winds equaled a great day for riding. Carrie met us at Neptune’s Net for our final stop and lunch. We made it back before dark and considered the whole thing a total success.
We rode down the coast and here is Aaron entering the bike path in Ventura
We took the 8 PM train from Chatsworth and arrived in Santa Barbara about 10 PM for roughly an hour ride down to Carpenteria.
We stopped at El Big Burrito on our way to the Chatsworth train station.
We stayed at the Carpenteria State Beach Bike and Hike Camping spot. It is $10 per person.
Chris rode his Surly World Troller. It was his first ride on the road since Route 66
Amtrak up to Santa Barbara. We made reservations for our bikes and they knew who we were when we got on the train..
The weather was very nice for our adventure in early December for a ride down the coast. Mostly in the 60s. A little chilly, but OK.
Nick is da man. He met up with us in Carpenteria for coffee in the morning. Every trip is made better with a visit from Nick.
We had another terrific start to our day at Lucky Llama Coffee in Carpenteria before we headed down the Pacific Coast.
Coffee and bagels in Carpenteria with Nick.
We met up with Carrie at Neptune’s Net for lunch.
We rode down the PCH..
The long awaited new Salsa Fargo’s are flying out the Outpost!
Victor has been patiently waiting for over a month for his very own Fargo, and today was his New Bike Day, day. Patience is indeed a virtue. We hope your new shiny green Fargo take you on lots of fun adventures.
Jeremy was lucky enough to snag the first Salsa Fargo of the season. He’s ready to Unpredict his Journey after hearing all the inspiring adventures that we’ve gone throughout Southern California. We’re excited for you, congrats and we hope you’ll join us on a future Unpredict You Wednesday!
Chris and Ryan (NuNu from the Hollywood days) went to Big Bear for UnPredict Your Wednesday. It was Ryan’s first time bikepacking and just escaping to UnPredict a night. Super success. They camped in the middle of nowhere after riding into the forest. Spending the day on the Big Bear Skyline trail was as spectacular as always.

Jack was motivated by his grandpa lately riding in Topanga. He has done the Saturday ride, ridden up Chaney and even out to the Oak tree on Backbone. He picked up his own bike to keep going on rides. So much goodness seeing Jack riding in Topanga.
Julian stopped by last week looking for a road bike that had the ability to commute comfortably and also be capable in future adventures. The sparkly brown Salsa Vaya was calling his name, so we ordered one up for him, and now he’s ready to roll with his new “Road” bike. haha
