We started packing up for this trip in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Doing the normal pre trip checklist rundown. Much like hiking, so this was familiar. With a few curveballs. Namely, water. I learned a few things during this … Continue reading →
UnPredict Your Wednesday happened in Big Bear this week. After the shop closed on Tuesday Chris and Andrew took off for Big Bear (and stopping for dinner at a diner. The guys drove up to Skyline Drive and parked at that big helicopter landing at the top of the dirt road area. They rode for a long time, naturally Chris got them lost for a bit. Somewhere in the mountain around 12:30 AM they camped. The guys woke up to an amazing day and scenery. After a really leisurely coffee time / breakfast with oatmeal in the heart of nowhere, they rode the super fun single track Skyline Trail back. Here is a photo documentary of the trip.

Immediately after the shop closed on Tuesday Chris and Andrew took off riding a couple of Surly Pack Rats to the Chatsworth Amtrak station. (They stopped at el Big Burrito on the way). The two guys jumped on the 8 PM train and took it to Ventura where they rode in the dark to Ojai on the Ojai Bike Trail. They guys arrived at Dennison Park around midnight and camped for the night. As they started to ride the backroads back to Topanga they were treated to some Spring flowers in the valley out of town before breakfast in Santa Paula. A few significant hills and a stop for donuts kept the ride interesting as they unpredicted their Wednesday. Here are some photos of the journey.
We took the boat to Catalina Island for UnPredict Your Wednesday with Team Pumpkin Spice and Bicycle Nomad. We rode out to Parson’s Landing, camped there for the night on the North Shore. On Tuesday we rode the length of the island to Avalon and saw everything amazing including a Buffalo.
